Post Adjectives set 1

Just a question. In the adjectives set one (fast, slow, long, short) there are pictures for "fun" and "boring". Just looking at the pictures the clown looks funny and the boy looks bored, but the words are fun and boring. My students want to make up sentences that say "The boy is boring." "The clown is fun" kind of makes sense, but not the boy. He is bored and his class is boring.

Is this just my issue with the wording and pictures? probably is!

Juli - Good points. I actually just teach the vocabulary using the cards. Then use the vocabulary in sentences without the cards. I don't talk about the boy or the clown. That way I guess I have never come across the problem.

I don't really have an answer for you on that. I apologize if that makes the cards difficult to use or increases confusion (goodness knows we don't need to be increasing confusion.)

How have you handled that situation?

Build up! Be positive! Teach hard!
