Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but I can't figure out the purpose of the follow the pattern section at the bottom of each page of the Fun Fonix ABC ebook. Is it just a simple shape-drawing skill development exercise for the really littlies?

No problem about asking questions. Ask away!

The ABC book is for young children who aren't really ready to write yet. It's meant to be an alphabet introduction book for children that need letter recognition exercises. If they are old enough or ready to write, then I start them on the Intro book.

The "follow the pattern" section is designed to build writing dexterity. It gives students a chance to practice different shapes and forms they'll need for writing letters. I have them focus on balance, maintaining the spacing, and making sure they touch the top, bottom, or middle line, like they see in the example.

Does that make sense?
